That's a Wrap!
3 Decembre 2008
The 10-day countdown began today as 10 becomes a pretty standard number to looking down to single digits. It’s interesting to me that there are many things about Cameroon that are trying, but I think a lot of what has become mentally draining has nothing to do with being in Cameroon at all. For instance, running around researching, living with a family that isn’t...

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!! I surprisingly had a wonderful Thanksgiving because we were invited to an American Thanksgiving buffet! Georgette, our dance instructor, is married to a director at the Peace Corps, and they, with their 3 children, have lived in America for the majority of their life. Abbie and Laura were with her the other day, and she asked if we had any plans...

Time Comes and Time Goes
20 Novembre 2008
I’m realizing that after all this time in Africa, there must be something about me that has changed, but it’s nearly impossible for me to recognize since I witness my own actions everyday. But, one thing is for sure, I believe that I’m changing into a young woman that is a force to be reckoned with, and if I can honestly say that after I’ve been in Africa or anywhere,...

My package still is not here… Nathalie went to the post office yesterday, but could not carry the packages, so I don’t have it.
Our workout regiment sucks. It’s hard, and I hate it, but I’m still going to do it.
My family definitely thinks they have to feed me better because I gave them that stipend. For one thing, they have been making...
Part II - Did you even finish part I yet?

I’m falling in love with Ngaoundere, the weather is absolutely blissful being that it is very hot, somewhere near 85 degrees, but there is a pleasant breeze all the time. The mosque is usually playing some sort of chanting hymn, and it’s creates an interesting backdrop for a walk through town.
We met our host families today, and I simply adore mine –...
J'arrive
15 Octobre 2008 (Continued)
Today was simply fabulous, a wonderful mid-week reawakening that I desperately needed. Amidst all the on-going projects and sheer magnitude of having to live here everyday, it’s difficult not to get worn down… so today really helped.
So, a girl who was sick with me in the hospital with Malaria is going home tomorrow – to real life – because she...

And On and On we Go
6 Octobre 2008
So it was extremely comforting to be back in Yaoundé today, as I certainly felt at home in my school, with my friends, access to internet, and a familiar town… even the regulars screaming “La blanche!” couldn’t put a damper on my mood. Breakfast of chocolate bread and hot chocolate with Arnaud was delicious as usual, and usually starts me off in the right frame of mind....
So Long Dschang!

I found myself thinking about the zoo again today because I was having a lot of difficulty justifying the treatment of those animals in my head, but I came to an important conclusion. During my entire life, I’ve had the privilege of visiting a city zoo, which cares deeply about the condition of animals by putting money toward attentive zookeepers, researchers of endangered...

I know or hope you are all anxiously awaiting another post from my adventures in Dschang, and I promise I have it written very extensively. However, internet in Dschang may as well be non-existant, so hold out with me until Monday, and you will have plenty to read!
So unfortunately, photos are taking two and a half years to upload or I would have a few more. Hopefully soon.
Breaking Through
10 Septembre 2008
If you got an email from me, you can imagine my excitement in finally being able to connect to a reliable internet source, and my computer functioning properly to connect to it. I apologize for all the typos in the previous post. I was so anxious to get something up in writing that I did not thoroughly check my writing. I don’t believe it caused for any confusion,...
The Official Update
7 Septembre 2008
One cannot truly comprehend the phrase culture shock until experiencing a part of the developing world. The norms are completely different from our own, and I am constantly being reminded of how privileged I am, and others view me to be. I realize now that because of cultural norms – such as the impoliteness of taking pictures, I will have to express to you through words my...
Finally
Hello Everyone, I am desperately trying to find enough time to post on this blog, but I just do not have it right now. However I have SO much to say. This French keyboard is very hard to get used to so hopefully I will use my computer next time. Cameroon is incredible, and I wish I could show you. Problem: it is impolite to take pictures and video here. Im not sure how I will get around this at if...
